Ideas for simple Mothers Day celebrations

Mothers Day is almost here and with the 3rd April looming it’s time to start thinking about how your mum will be spending hers. April usually signals the start of spring with brighter, sunnier and milder days, although those frequent showers can dampen the spirits and restrict outdoor activities if you let them!  Getting back to nature come rain or shine, is a surefire way of getting a quick pick-me-up so for our first Mothers Day idea get out in the great outdoors.  Head for a leisurely walk in the forest where you will have shelter from the rain should it arrive and spring will show its full presence delivering Daffodils and bluebells in copious amounts. Wrap up in layers, remember to take the wellies and an umbrella, pack food which will warm you up in the event it gets chilly and don’t forget a bottle of bubbly for sipping at a suitably picturesque spot!

If your mum is not really the outdoor type, organise a fabulous family gathering with mouthwatering food, hand-baked cakes and an afternoon of vintage games.  Sunday is a great day to prepare succulent roasts to be eaten leisurely or, equally suits an afternoon tea with delicate sandwiches, scones and of course a glass or two of Champagne. Keep it simple but delicious and take time to savour each and every mouthful.

For those busy types, a spa day or weekend away is the perfect antidote to the day to day strains most of us encounter.  Day Spa experiences are perfect for incorporating into a whole day of surprises.  Start with a delicious breakfast before heading out to your chosen venue.  Avoid the temptation to pack too many treatments into a day, look to achieve a healthy balance of pampering and time together.  Finally, finish the day off with a very long and leisurely dinner at a favourite restaurant.

Alternatively, head out to the country for a tranquil Weekend Spa break where the two of you can indulge in a number of treatments as well as enjoying a whole host of other relaxing activities.

Finally, if you are wanting to create the perfect at home spa environment pick up some fabulously scented candles as well as a number of standard tea-lights, stock up on luxury towels and robes, organise suitably relaxing music and choose high quality, luxurious products for all over pampering.

A good place to start would be Dermalogica Cleanser,Dermalogica Toner and Dermalogica Moisturiser to suit skins needs, use in conjunction with a concentrated booster such as Dermalogica extra firming booster. For the body choose an exfoliator and super rich moisturiser for buffed and firmed skin.  Try the divine smelling Dermalogica Exfoliating Body Scrub followed by a healthy slathering of Dermalogica Ultrarich Body Cream for silky smooth all over skin. Light the candles, pull on the robe, indulge in some sweet treats and while away a spring afternoon in relaxation and pampering.

Whatever way you spend Mothers Day this year, relax and enjoy it!
